Seminar for capacity building of meadow management planners

The seminar for capacity building of meadow management planners will take place on May, 13-14, 2008 in Burtnieki organized by the Latvian Fund for Nature within the framework of LIFE-Nature project "Restoration of Latvian floodplains for EU priority species and habitats"

This seminar will focus on the pragmatics and problems of semi-natural grassland management methods and biodiversity. In particular, there will be discussion about:

• setting objectives for management;
• selection of right method;
• practical issues of implementation;
• monitoring and evaluation.

On the second day field excursion to the restored and managed floodplain meadows around Burtnieki Lake is planned.

Information exchange and accumulation of new knowledge and experience in the seminar will lead to improvement of management techniques, finding best technical solutions for particular sites and drawing lessons from past management cases in different places of Latvia and throughout Europe.
