We are inviting to the cycle of stories "Choose nature protection!"

The Latvian Fund for Nature in collaboration with the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund and Student Association of University of Latvia Faculty of Biology are inviting to the cycle of stories “Choose nature protection!”. The event will take place on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 4.30 p.m. in University of Latvia Faculty of Biology Kronvalda Boulevard 4, room 2.

The Programme includes:

  • Nature restricted area “Lielupe Flood-Plain Meadows” in Jelgava – management of the Nature protection plan development, wild nature in town – Ieva Rove, botanist, expert, LFN Project manager
  • How films are made on the nature of Latvia – Kaspars Goba, director, photographer and journalist, certified biologist
  • The plot of the emerging film “Life in Marsh” on the endeavours of scientists to explore and protect the unique marsh biotopes. (20 min.)
  • Closing conversations with pastry and a cup of drink

Employees, working in the nature protection sector had been monthly gathering in University of Latvia Faculty of Biology on Tuesday evenings already for several years, in order to share experience within a couple of hours, obtained while participating both, in different daily nature protection works and international events. It was important for exchanging mutual experience, improving common erudition and simply for relaxation from their daily work.

This year four times of meeting are planned – once a month, by inviting well-known people in society, who work in nature protection both in politics, and in mass media. Similarly, sectoral experts from different fields will tell about the most topical projects and there will be the stories improving erudition and nature films, as well.

We are particularly inviting young students full of energy and senior pupils who care for the maintenance of natural diversity in Latvia, and who may wish to work professionally in this field also in the future. It would be a great possibility to meet representatives of different nature protection sectors and become acquainted with the current events.

All the interested persons are also invited to participate. There is not an entrance fee, but the event appears likely to be very exciting!

The event is financially supported by Latvian Environmental Protection Fund.
