The experience of the Finnish experts in mire habitat management and restoration reaches already 10 years during which successful mire restoration knowledge has been gained.

The project team visited the Seitseminen National Park where got acquainted with the methods and results of building dams on the drainage ditches. Pekka Vesterinen from the Seitseminen National Park told that dams have been built using the excavator and after one year Sphagnum and Eriophorum species appeared in the newly restored area. Mire restoration and management activities have given also good results in Vihriäisenneva Mire which were presented by Professor Harri Vasander from Helsinki University and hydrologist Tapani Sallantaus.
