New booklet "Birds in floodplain meadows" published In the beginning of June within the framework of LIFE-Nature project Restoration of Latvian Floodplains for EU priority species and habitats we have published an educative booklet about birds in the floodplain meadows. This booklet is targeted at all landowners and farmers, whose daily lives are linked to the floodplain meadows. New booklet "Birds in floodplains meadows" published In the beginning of June within the framework of LIFE-Nature project Restoration of Latvian Floodplains for EU priority species and habitats we have published an educative booklet about birds in the floodplain meadows. This booklet is targeted at all landowners and farmers, whose daily lives are linked to the floodplain meadows. Extensive information about natural meadows in Latvia, corncrake, snipe and other birds are nesting on the floodplains is provided in the booklet. The booklet includes clear and simple explanations on timing and methods for nature and bird friendly farming, it is easy to use for farmers. Landowners are encouraged to restore overgrown meadows and to continue their activities in a nature friendly way, at the same time receiving economic benefits for that. | The author of the booklet is the ornithologist Oskars Keišs, it was prepared by the project partner Latvian Ornithologist Society and published by LIFE-Nature project "Restoration of Latvian floodplains for EU priority species and habitats". It contains 24 pages and is fully illustrated with photos and diagrams. The booklet will be delivered to local municipalities- project partners and it is available for free in the Latvian Fund for Nature and Latvian Ornithological Society - for everyone who is interested in maintenance of floodplain meadows both for nature and people.
