Documentary film „Zaļais īpašums” about floodplains of Northern Vidzeme

Latvian Television demonstrated documentary film „Zaļais īpašums” (Green Property) on April 16. Green Property is a series of documentary films, shown every second Saturday in Latvian main Television channel. This time the series focus on floodplain restoration and management within our LIFE Floodplains project. Previous series of this broadcast had documented different issues related to management in protected nature territories Abava Valley, Gauja National Park, Complex of Lubāna wetlands (2 films), Ogre valley, Daugava Valley and protected coastal zone.

Documentary film „Zaļais īpašums” about floodplains of Northern Vidzeme

Latvian Television demonstrated documentary film „Zaļais īpašums” (Green Property) on April 16. Green Property is a series of documentary films, shown every second Saturday in Latvian main Television channel. This time the series focus on floodplain restoration and management within our LIFE Floodplains project. Previous series of this broadcast had documented different issues related to management in protected nature territories Abava Valley, Gauja National Park, Complex of Lubāna wetlands (2 films), Ogre valley, Daugava Valley and protected coastal zone.

In the beginning of April the crew of "Labvakar" with assistance of two representatives from Latvian Fund for Nature spent three days filming in Northern Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve. Chosen protected nature territories are: Burtnieki meadows, Rūja floodplains and meadows of Seda River, all of them LIFE Floodplain project sites. Our local stakeholders and few public servants play the main roles in the film, other participants are corncrake, great snipe, and even beaver, playing the “bad guy” in the film

Series Green property try to find the answers to many unclear questions related to nature conservation and focus of interactions between land owners, tourists and decision-makers in protected nature territories. Not only interactions, but also their rights and responsibilities were discussed. Authors of this series are explaining importance of The National Programme of Biodiversity, and analysing the main problems, which are actual in protected nature areas. The positive solutions are advertised to take care of individual interests and interests of state.

This series were shown on LTV1 at 17.30 (16.04.) and repeated on followed Thursday (21.04.) at 12:00.
