Latvian Fund for Nature and The lake Engure Nature Park fund thanks all the people that participated in voluntary work in Engure, held on September 28., 2002. On September 28 Latvian Fund for Nature organized voluntary work in the Lake Engure Nature Park. The main goal of this event was to clear at least a small territory of coast from the bushes. In spite of having solid response for voluntary work announcement, until the Saturdays morning there still was one thing that could have canceled this voluntary work event: weather conditions. But as it later approved, there was no need to be worried about the weather, because sun was shining all day and there was no sign of rain. On Saturday morning approximately 25 people, armed with axes and HUSQARNAs, were gathered by the headquarters of ornithologists of the lake Engure. After managers explanation about what is the main goal of this event and what everyone should do all the people got to their duties. In the lead of all the voluntaries were managed some men with HUSQARNAs, because it was the most easiest way to cut the bushes that were pretty big. Other part of voluntary workers were collecting bushes that were cut and brought them to fireplaces. All day long worker actions were monitored by the wild horses that live in the territory of the Lake Engure Nature Park since the middle of this summer. After having a delicious been soup in the lunch prepared by the hostess Rasma voluntary workers got back to the work. And they kept on working until the dinner. Shortly before the evening meal some workers wonted to leave the place of action, but they were asked to stay a bit longer, because project manager Inga Račinska had planed to reward every participant of this voluntary work. Everyone was rewarded with the brand new T-shirt of “Implementation Management Plan for the Lake Engure Nature Park” project. When dinner was over there were a bit of conversations and afterwards everybody left. The manager of this event Inga Račinska said that in her opinion this voluntary work turned out very well, that all the people that were gathered did a great job, and that she is sure that every single person that participated feels the same way too.
