Ainārs Auniņš will be the Chairman of the LDF Board

In Chairman Elections on January 9 Board of the Latvian Nature Fund elected Ainārs Auniņš, replacing that way previous Chairman Ivars Kabucis, who exercised these administrative functions since 2003. According to the Statutes of the Latvian Fund for Nature (LDF), Chairman of the board convokes and leads meetings of the Board.

The Board approves the strategy and main activities of the Fund, prepares the Annual Report, accepts the budget, decides about the changes in Statutes and convokes the Founders Meeting if necessary. In its regular meetings the Board accepts a new projects and current activities and supervises the Director.

Ainārs is one of most experienced employees of the LDF, he works here since 1995. He is biologist and ornithologist, specialized in remote sensing and monitoring. Scientific interests of Ainārs are about the Snipes Gallinago media – surviving of this specie depends directly of existence of the natural floodplain meadows.

Current Board of the LDF includes of seven members: Ainārs Auniņš (the Chairman), Ivars Kabucis, Ilze Danefelde, Valda Baroniņa, Voldemārs Spuņģis, Aivars Petriņš and Valdis Pilāts. Each Board operates 3 years. In the autumn of 2008 there will take place a general meeting of founders to elect a new Board.
