An important part of this seminar was an excursion around the Lake Engure Nature park, so the participants could clearly see what have been done within the project “Implementation Management Plan for the Lake Engure Nature Park”. Participants of the seminar could see wild horses and cows thou are grazing in fenced area by the coast of the lake Engure.

They have been selected as most appropriate solution to maintain the coastal and shore meadows. Participants also visited the bird watching tower. More bird watching towers will be built within the project. They are the necessity because of an importance of the lake Engure as home for all kind of water birds (about 180 bird species have found their home in this lake). When participants went up the bird watching tower they had nice views all around the lake and also they were able to see areas of the lake that have been cut with brand new reed cutting machine. Reed cutting machine was parked next to the tower so that everyone who wanted was able to take a closer look and some people even had a ride with it. Project manager Inga Račinska introduced the project staff to participants and the discussion about the management solutions in Lake Engure was held.

In the theoretical part of seminar several presentations were given by nature management experts from different parts of Latvia, discussions about the nature management in Latvia were conducted, the present situation was discussed, as well as future goals and plans. Also there were presentations of similar projects that are managed in different places of Latvia.
